This PowerWheels car was pulled from the trash without its battery.
Several different power tool battery adaptors are available on Amazon and Lithium batteries are much lighter than lead with a higher energy density.
After installing the 20V DeWalt power tool battery, the car didn't last long with the surging energy of frequent start / stops. One of the 12V brushed motors burned out which prompted me to buy one of the 24V upgrade motor / transmission kits which are readily available on Amazon. Upon arrival, I realized that I had ordered the incorrect transmission style. Since the motors were identical, I just needed to swap the cintered metal gears between the motors. The car now runs two 24V motors in parallel on a 20V circuit.
-Be Aware: this conversion does not have any deep discharge prevention which could ruin Lithium batteries if discharged too low.
