What is Ayurveda Day / National Ayurveda Day
Ayurveda Day (also called National Ayurveda Day) is an annual observance by the Government of India (through the Ministry of AYUSH) to promote Ayurveda — India’s ancient system of holistic medicine.
It was first declared in 2016, celebrated traditionally on Dhanvantari Jayanti (Dhanteras) — a day in the Hindu lunar calendar associated with Dhanvantari (the deity of Ayurveda / health).

What is new / different for the 10th Ayurveda Day (2025)
Fixed Date Introduced: For the first time, Ayurveda Day will be observed on a fixed date — 23rd September every year. This replaces the earlier practice of celebrating it on Dhanvantari Jayanti, which varies because it follows the lunar calendar.
This decision was formalised via a Gazette Notification issued by the Government in March 2025.
The main event venue for 2025 will be the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Goa.
