How Vietnamese Pottery Is Made 🏺 Inside A Traditional Local Factory In Vietnam 🇻🇳 Saigon

Today we traveled out of Saigon to Lai Thiêu, a small town about 1 hour from Ho Chi Minh City, to visit a truly special local pottery factory called Hưng Thành Phát. This family business has been making handcrafted ceramic bowls, cups, and pottery for generations, using traditional Vietnamese techniques that are over 300 years old and slowly disappearing.

The owner, Minh, doesn’t normally offer tours — but when we asked politely, he kindly allowed us to film and learn. His talented local staff, some of whom have been working here for over 30 years, showed us their incredible skill and dedication. The hard work and passion behind every piece is inspiring.

We also met Minh’s amazing son, Kun, who gave us a full tour and explained the entire process from raw clay to finished ceramic. He was incredibly informative and cares deeply about keeping this traditional craft alive.
Fun fact: Minh and the factory were even featured on VTV – Vietnam Television for their beautiful craftsmanship!

This was one of the most meaningful days we’ve had in Vietnam — seeing real traditional pottery made by hand, meeting the people behind the craft, and experiencing a piece of local Vietnamese heritage that deserves to be preserved.
