Michelle Hamill Joins Making Zen!
🧵 We’re so excited to welcome Michelle Hamill (@pardalotemakes) to the Making Zen Online Retreat!
Michelle is a textile artist whose work beautifully bridges art, science, and nature. With a background in mathematics, science, and technology, she draws endless inspiration from the patterns and geometry found in the natural world — from delicate feathers to the intricate forms of wild landscapes. 🌿
Working with textiles both old and new — fabric, thread, wire, glass beads, woollen felt, and stuffing 0 Michelle reimagines traditional needlework techniques in unexpected ways, creating pieces that are rich in texture, pattern, and colour. Her practice is as much about curiosity and observation as it is about craft.
In her workshop, “Stitched Bird Brooches,” you’ll make joyful little birds using scrap felt, leftover thread, and fabric offcuts. With a few simple stitches and plenty of creative freedom, each bird takes on its own character — no two ever the same! Your bird’s face won’t look like Michelle’s, and that’s perfect — it’s your stitching, your joy, your creation. 🪡
Michelle’s session is one of 30 free workshops in the Making Zen Online Retreat, 27–31 October 2025.
