Day 4 in Prince Rupert | Trails, Treats & Tides on the Great Bear Rainforest Cruise

First time Holland America has done the Great Bear Rainforest in this way! 🛳️
We hit the trails, found hidden gems, and might have discovered the cutest cruise mascot ever.

Our Great Bear Rainforest adventure continues with Day 4 in Prince Rupert, British Columbia.

We started with breakfast and coffee (obviously), then headed straight to Rushbrook Trail, a local favourite just a short walk from the pier. Picture rainforest greens on one side, harbour blues on the other — seals, eagles, and even deer welcoming us along the way.

We explored the Seal Cove dock, spotted harbour seals playing in the water, and learned that Prince Rupert is one of North America’s deepest ice-free ports. From there, we made our way to Sunken Gardens Park, which sits on the remains of a half-built hotel from 1913 that never opened. History twist: it’s now one of the most peaceful parks in town.

We wandered through the charming downtown, stopped for treats at Saltwater Bakery (that cinnamon bun was life-changing), picked up locally made souvenirs and earrings, and even met a new friend — our official channel mascot, Captain Otterman.

Back onboard, Holland America hosted a local Indigenous performance on the World Stage that was absolutely beautiful to witness. The night wrapped up with the Lido Deck Fair, games, popcorn, laughter, and a comedy show that had us both crying from laughter.

Prince Rupert surprised us in the best way — peaceful, scenic, and full of small-town charm. It’s easily one of our favourite stops so far.
