The first day of August was a busy and challenging one. An early morning freight derailment in Aurora, IL cut off Metra service for a few hours. Once some tracks were re-opened, there continued to be delays throughout the day as RR workers repaired damaged tracks and switches.
Myself and @stpchc spend a little bit of time in Downers Grove, IL at the Belmont Road and Downers Grove Main Street Metra stations observing rail traffic on this busy friday. With Lollapalooza taking place and also a Cubs game in Chicago, this was a day where rail traffic had to keep moving.
