The latest in my string of Series 9 songs, based on - you guessed it - 'The Girl Who Died'. A huge thank you once again to the Inquisitor for her awesome lyrics.
I'll be putting the Series 9 run on hold for a while, partly because the new series is out and partly because I'd like to return to some classic Who soon. However, there are songs in the making for 'Heaven Sent' and 'The Husbands of River Song'. In any case, they probably won't be released until the summer.
Lyrics:
I make stories,
Chronicling the battles of my people,
Fighting for honour.
With each new creation
And each puppet that I make,
My heart will always race for the warriors,
My family, my people,
Not returning safely back to me.
This is my place,
The sky, the hills, the sea,
Oh, Doctor, can't you see
That leaving this place
Would feel like death to me?
You stayed to help us,
Oh, this story's one I swear will never leave them,
Fighting the Mire,
I was born to tell them stories,
Seems I'll die telling them too,
Revived because of you. Now the warriors,
My family, my people,
Will fade away and leave me far too soon.
This is my place,
The sky, the hills, the sea,
Oh, Doctor, can't you see
That leaving this place
Would feel like death to me?
Nowhere to go,
This is my home,
You're an outsider,
And I am a fighter,
You say to run,
You say to flee,
But this is where my heart will always be.
(The heart of my stories holds the story of my heart.)
Now I exist,
But do I live?
They'll all die before me,
You made that choice for me,
They were
My story,
A story you have forced me to outlive.
