The Good News, Part 12: The Purpose of the First Resurrection

Why are there two resurrections instead of just one? In this video, we explore what Jesus meant in John 5:28–29 when he spoke of a resurrection to life and a resurrection to judgment. What does it mean to “do good” in God’s eyes? Why doesn’t relative human goodness qualify us? And what role will those in the first resurrection play in God’s purpose to restore his human family?

We’ll also consider how obedience through suffering shapes those called to reign with Christ, and why this first resurrection is essential for everyone to have a real opportunity to know and choose God.
