The Concerto for Two Violins, Strings, and Continuo in D minor, BW 1043 by J.S. Bach written between 1717 and 1723 is possibly one of J. S. Bach's most famous works.
This excerpt contains all three movements: 1. Vivace (Young David and Michael in ensemble), 2. Largo ma non tanto (Michael Crawford and Laura Nadine), 3. Allegro (David Warth and Laura Nadine). The expressive relationship between the violins found throughout this work is performed first, by David (age 12), Michael (age 14), and two young ladies (junior and seniors in high school). The Largo ma non tanto follows here by violinist Michael Crawford and his childhood violin teacher Laura Nadine of Enlightened Arts Studios. The Allegro is performed by David Warth, again with Laura Nadine). As Laura's teachers inspired her, Laura continues to inspire an entire community. There is a joy and a bit of a melancholy that comes with returning to the teachers of your childhood. Michael is one of two of her students who returned from college to perform two movements from this spectacular piece in a very special recital for her students. Not only her private students from her own studio performed, but also her students from the Hirsch Academy (a school for autism spectrum students as well as other learning challenged students).
Music is for everyone. It transcends all boundaries. As the universal language, many of us know this is sometimes a person's only or first connection with the rest of the world.
