"Russia is certainly interested in building up good and stable relations with Germany and other states of the European Union, with all countries on the European continent, Russia is also a European country. In this respect the initiatives that we put forth, including what was probably my first foreign policy initiative - I remember it happened in Germany right after my becoming president - the initiative on the European security treaty. It has not been recalled and shelved, we continue to promote and we expect a constructive cooperation with our European partners and Germany."

STORYLINE
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev on Tuesday held talks with his German counterpart Christian Wulff in Moscow.
Before the meeting Wolff laid a wreath to the Tomb of Unknown Soldier, the routine gesture of respect for many foreign dignitaries.
The talks focused on close economic cooperation between the two countries.
Medvedev and Wulff both stressed the mutual importance of the partnership between Germany and Russia.
Wulff however stressed the need for greater reforms in the economic and judicial spheres to help provide a more stable environment for foreign investors.
