Swatting at dirty winged desire ... perpetual bondage to Saṃsāra.
The flames of wisdom lick the wounds of ignorance clean to the bone.
The film works as a standalone film and as a pilot for an upcoming feature film.
Synopsis:
No Flies On Me explores Saṃsāra, chasing the phantoms of our own desire and the fickle and at times mundane repetitive existence and plight of our particular sentient species.
As seen through the eyes of our barfly (lead actor) on a night out at his local pub, after a few too many drinks he is cerebrally drawn on a journey into the microcosmic wilder hedonistic parallel barfly world taking place right under his nose.
The candle light is symbolic of insight and the guiding inspirational discriminating power of 'source' awareness. The guiding light of wisdom is ever present yet the allure of the shadowy and wild dance of 'blissful ignorance' obscure his cognitive ability to reconnect.
The film is a satirical look at modern pop-culture and more sub-cultural fringe lifestyles from secular to the more extreme OTT cliquey forms and their esoteric vs exoteric values with tongue (or should I say proboscis? ;-) firmly in cheek!

Back story / production side note:
The micro-stage for the flies and table setting for our barfly lead had to be nice and grimy.
Logistically as far as production workflow goes, I wanted to make sure that I could come back to an identical set-up, with all the 'pub-grub' ketchup, dollops of grease and grime and food scraps mixed with spilled with beer and the resting places of the respective pint and shot glasses in tact.
Given I was also busy with other priorities at the time of the shoot, the grimy little oasis was kept like that for a good while and suffice to say attracted a few hungry and excited visitors of the relatively micro winged variety (blow-flies) which made perfect reference for the 'look' development of the fly characters. I learned to adore the little winged friends and I would carefully study (via naked-eye and macro-lens) their reflective, refractive, and iridescent varied colours perfectly suited for the grungy and glam hard rockin' cast.
