Representation MATTERS.

Catch up with some of the Contiki Velo Bavarian RT riders at our latest training session as they talk about what makes the team different and why they decided to get involved in cycling and how they got into racing.

What makes CVBRT different?
We are encouraging local riders, from all walks of life and backgrounds, to give racing a go, in a bid to increase participation in the sport we all love.
Cycling has many barriers to participation, particularly if you are a woman. Traditionally a male-dominated sport, the opportunities for women are significantly less - we aim to open more doors for female cyclists who want to compete or just ride more! We can do this by showcasing the pathway we have created, from women's only rides to dedicated training rides and now our very own race team, proudly backed by Contiki.

The word 'team' as an acronym stands for Together Everyone Achieves More and in a sport like cycling, this couldn't be more true. At grass roots level, cycling is a lonely sport, but through our regular Velo Bavarian training and social rides, we have seen a community of people come together with a shared passion which has in turn trickled into the ethos of our race team. We are a dedicated and supportive team, on and off the bike and that is what makes Contiki Velo Bavarian RT so special to be a part of.

Why does representation matter so much?
People inspire people. Men and women doing great things inspire boys and girls to dream of their own greatness. People succeeding from adversity give others hope to do the same. We are all role models for someone out there and if you are trying your best, you never know who could be looking up to you.
