Heartbeats is a musical about Annie, a woman approaching middle age, who questions whether her 20-year marriage to Steve is worthy of another act. Original music and lyrics are by Amanda McBroom, with additional music by Gerald Sternbach, Michele Brourman, Tom Snow, and Craig Safan. (Included at the end of Part 3, is a song Ms. McBroom originally wrote for Bette Midler called “The Rose.”
The songs for Part 1 of 3 include The Way of the Heart, Hurt Somebody Blues, Putting Things Away, and Tell Me What You Want.
The songs for Part 2 of 3 include Ship in a Bottle, Hitchhiker, If This Is Love, and Dance. (I apologize for a slight tape drag in the first selection.)
The songs for Part 3 of 3 include Anyone Can Do the Heartbreak, I Like to Look, Old Habits Die Hard, Somebody, Serve’em Right, Anything But the Truth, All This Time, and The Rose.
The cast includes Amanda McBroom, George Ball, Michele Maika, Kevin Bailey, Sharon McKnight, and William Falk.
