Weerstand also serves as an event venue where various types of activities take place. The origins of this site date back to the early 20th century when linen weaving company Elias established itself here. In 1946, the factory was taken over by Philips, which sold it in 2000 to the Taiwanese company Yageo.

Until 2005, the factory was active in producing items such as dynamos, resistors, and capacitors. The entire project’s development is carried out with respect for the past and an appreciation for the industrial heritage, in which history plays an important role.

A permanent exhibition is set up in the information center, giving visitors an impressive view of more than half a century of industrial history in Roermond. Here, many former employees can reminisce, and anyone interested can take a look into the past, present, and future of this special place.
