Electrolysis is the only method of permanent hair removal approved by the AMA and the FDA. It is an ideal way to remove unwanted hair from the eyebrow area. Your eyes are a focal point of the face as they frame the eyes and add drama. With the changes in fashion through the years, eyebrows have gone from thick to thin and recently back to thick. In the late seventies and early eighties we could see this trending in celebrities such as Madonna and Brooke Shields. In the 90’s we saw trending back to thinner brows popularized by Christina Aguilera and Pamela Anderson. In recent years, we have seen eyebrows go back to a thicker, natural look. However, with all the tweezing, plucking and waxing that has gone on in the past and present, follicles that are needed to produce high quality brow hairs are being stunted or distorted causing them to bend in strange directions or to stop growing leaving bald spots. The best way to eliminate this issue and to gain the brow look you desire is with electrolysis. Electrolysis works on people with all skin tones and hair types and is an ideal means of permanent hair removal for specific errant hairs. The method is great whether you wish to create a more arched, wide eyed look or if just wish to eliminate unwanted hairs from an existing eyebrow. At Theresa’s Face and Body Cape Coral Spa We perform permanent hair removal with the thermolysis method. Thermolysis involves inserting a thin, stainless steel disposable needle the size of a hair into the follicle then sending a quick burst of heat into the follicle where the hair, papilla and blood supply exist. This permanently destroys the hair root and all tissue that supports the hair. The hair is then lifted out of the follicle with a tweezer. There is a slight heat sensation with electrolysis but your electrologist can adjust the amount of current that is administered. A typical eyebrow session runs from 15 minutes for a quick clean up to an hour for those with denser brows.
Upon a consultation your electrologist will recommend a treatment plan that will provide the best results for your needs. Homecare after a treatment involves keeping the area clean with alcohol. Do not use soap or makeup in the area after treatment for 24 hours. After cleansing the area with alcohol, apply cortisone, triple antibiotic cream or tea tree oil with a cotton swab. Tweezing or picking at the treated is not advised. It is also important to apply sunscreen with at least a 30 SPF to protect the area from the sun.
