Humanitarians operate in challenging contexts filled with uncertainty and security risks to deliver life-saving assistance. In high-threat environments where armed conflict, terrorism, civil unrest, and criminality may prevail, financial, human, and logistical resources are crucial to security risk management which aims to help operations achieve acceptable levels of risk.
The financial constraints and scarcity in other resources make it more crucial than ever to identify and manage resources for security wisely, and mainstream security within all aspects of our operations and planning. The dilemma between resources and security risk management can impact the operation greatly. This in-person session will address challenges faced in high-risk environments and explore best practices that have positively impacted operational outcomes.
