Casio ProTrek PRW 60Y 1AER - Solar Powered - Great watch for home and travel!

The Pro Trek PRW-60Y-1AER is a solar powered triple sensor sporty all-rounder (waterproof up to 100 meters) timepiece with a diameter of 40mm (23mm strap). Nice timepiece for home and travel! Most sporty watches have a diameter of 45 to 47 mm and I personally find that a bit large for daily use. My wrist is 17cm (6.7 inches) in circumference and a 40mm watch fits perfectly.
The timepiece is a transmitter-controlled watch, which means that it synchronizes itself every day with the atomic clock and you no longer have to set your winter and summer time yourself. In my case, the Pro Trek PRW 60Y sets itself to the second at 3:03 AM (Belgium). You can check this on the watch itself. In the video you can see how to set this up.
The various functions work very well. The compass, among other things, is easy to operate with the top right button and the altimeter at the bottom right. The operation of the many functions is quite easy and by unscrewing the screwed-in crown you can use it as a navigation wheel.
On the bezel (edge around the timepiece) there are various world cities that you can use to set the desired world time. If you set the world time on NYC, for example, you can set your watch analogously to the time zone in New York with a few simple presses. The home time (HT) then changes to the display and shows the time from home.
I've had the timepiece for a little over a month now and have few comments. The only downside for me personally is the strap in Resin which pulled a bit on my hair. I replaced it with a flexible Archer silicone band. Doesn't cost much and fits like a glove.
It is also good to know that the Pro Trek PWR 60Y-1AER does not have sapphire glass but hardened mineral glass, so you have to watch out for scratches.
The retail price is €429 for the Pro Trek and €16 (amazon) for the Archer silicone strap 23mm!

De Pro Trek PRW-60Y-1AER is een sportief (waterdicht tot 100 meter) allrounder uurwerk met een diameter van 40mm. De meeste sportieve horloges hebben een diameter van 45 à 47mm en voor dagelijks gebruik vind ik dat persoonlijk wat groot. Mijn pols is 17cm in omtrek en een 40mm horloge past perfect.
Het uurwerk is een zender gestuurd horloge (radio controlled) wat wil zeggen dat het zichzelf elke dag gelijkzet met de atoomklok en je winter- en zomertijd niet meer zelf moet instellen. In mijn geval zet de Pro Trek 60Y zichzelf tot op de seconde juist om 3u03 ’s morgens. Je kan dit controleren op het uurwerk zelf. In de video kan je zien hoe je dat kan instellen.
De verschillende functies werken erg goed. Onder andere het kompas is gemakkelijk te bedienen met de rechter boven knop en rechtsonder vind je de hoogtemeter. De bediening van de vele functies zijn vrij makkelijk en door de ingeschroefde kroon uit te draaien kan je deze te gebruiken als navigatiewiel (zie video).
Op de bezel (rand rondom het uurwerk) staan verschillende wereldsteden die je kan gebruiken om de gewenste wereldtijd in te stellen. Zet je de wereldtijd in op bijvoorbeeld NYC dan kan je door een paar simpele drukken je uurwerk analoog instellen op de tijd van New York. De home time (HT) wisselt dan naar het display en geeft daar de tijd aan van thuis.
Ik heb het uurwerk nu iets langer dan een maand en heb weinig opmerkingen. Het enigste minpuntje is voor mij persoonlijk het bandje in Resin (een soort hars) wat een beetje aan mijn haar trok. Ik heb het vervangen door een soepele band in siliconen van Archer. Kost niet veel en zit als gegoten.
Ook is het goed om te weten dat de Pro Trek PWR 60Y-1AER geen saffierglas heeft maar gehard mineraalglas, dus je moet een beetje oppassen voor krassen.
De retail prijs voor de Pro Trek is 429€ en 16€ voor de siliconen band van Archer 23mm!
