Believed to have been constructed after World War II, it bears inscriptions honoring Jamaica’s contributions to the Great War (1914–1918) and commemorating Dr. Robert Glaister Samuel Bell, a compassionate doctor who died in 1904 after attempting to cross the Rio Minho River. Once known as the Dr. Bell Memorial Clock, it has undergone various renovations to preserve its historical integrity, though it now requires cleaning. The surrounding area, formerly a taxi stand, has been repaved and hosts gatherings, making the clock tower a focal point for locals and visitors. A cherished part of May Pen’s heritage, it stands as both a functional timepiece and a testament to the town’s history and identity.
