The Ulster Orchestra and BBC NI have a long-standing partnership, so we were pleased to perform at a special invitation concert at St Anne's Cathedral to celebrate 100 years of the BBC in Northern Ireland.
Listen to the concert on BBC Sounds: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m00...
The concert features music from the Ulster Orchestra, with conductor James Burton, the Codetta choir and the cathedral's organist, Jack Wilson. The concert includes a new BBC NI centenary commission from Neil Martin, Paul Campbell's Fantasia on Ulster Airs, and a special arrangement of A Candle Which Will Not be Put Out by Public Service Broadcasting.
Tara Mills and Declan Harvey perform a series of readings that reflect different aspects of the BBC's history and role in community life. These include pieces by Ciaran Carson, Wendy Cope, Gillian Clarke, Seamus Heaney and Michael Longley.
