The Central Instrumentation Center for Multidisciplinary Research and Innovation (CICMRI) established in main campus of our University is equipped with sophisticated analytical instruments and other research facilities. The Government of Maharashtra has funded through special grant to strengthen the Research & Development (R&D) activities that are observed in main campus, sub-campuses and all affiliated colleges spread over 4 districts of Marathwada region. This center is aimed to facilitate the instrumentation and analytical requirements in basic and applied sciences at academic, research, and industrial fields.
At present, the state-of-art infrastructure including High Resolution Liquid Chromatograph Mass Spectrometer (HRLCMS), Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM), Raman Spectrometer, Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (GCMS), Refractometer, Atomic Absorption Spectrophomometer (AAS,) Reactors and CADD Software (Biovia Discovery Studio) have been procured. The inclusion of few more equipment like Fluorescence Spectroscope, Density & Sound Velocity Mater, Viscometer, Zetasizer Nano Zs, Illumina MiniSeQ Platform of NGS for Genome Sequencing, Fluorescent Microscope, X-Ray Powder Diffraction (XRD) and Western Blot is under progress. Of course the services are offered on affordable charge basis to researchers in campus, affiliated colleges, other Universities and industries.
The potential of CICMRI for various applications:
The potential of state-of-the-art equipment finds application widely in academic, research & development, industrial sectors. To be mentioned, it can greatly support local farmers in soil testing, water analysis, selecting appropriate seeds and pesticides, and quality checks for their agri-products and dairy products. In short, the wide applications can be explored as given below.
1. Pesticide content detection
2. Pesticide metabolism in plants
3. Seed adulteration ( for example black pepper with papaya seeds)
4. Nutraceutical value evaluation of Agri-products like banana
5. Dairy products analysis for pesticide, antibiotics and mycotoxins content
6. Curcumin estimation
7. The nutraceutical active compounds (gingerols, shogaols, and paradols) detection of Ginger
8. Wheat, Jowar and ground nuts like food grains for aflatoxin (B1, B2, G1, and G2) detection
9. Soil testing for mineral detection
10. Water analysis for detecting various mineral levels
Installation and training workshops conducted:
All the procured equipment and software have been installed in a separate building named “The Central Instrumentation Center for Multidisciplinary Research and Innovation (CICMRI)” at the centre of the campus to facilitate easy immediate access to all the researchers in the campus. The faculty, research scholars and PG students from various campus schools have been informed during installation period of every facility to create awareness and training to them as well. This certainly helped to create awareness of these research facilities among the research community around.
Registration of CICMRI under I-STEM portal:
In order to create awareness to users at the national level, we have also registered CICMRI under “The Indian Science, Technology, and Engineering Facilities Map (I-STEM)” portal which is a national digital platform launched by the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser (PSA) to the Government of India, aimed at improving accessibility and optimizing the use of scientific infrastructure nationwide.
This will certainly fetch the usage level to maximum level by providing services to the users at national level. TO be mentioned, we have already started receiving enquiries for the same.
Various extension activities planned at CICMRI:
In addition to our ongoing services rendered to academic and industrial sectors, ready to extend services to public and government sectors too. Also Dr. Sudhir Deshmukh (MBBS, MS) Dean of Dr. Shankarrao Chavan Government Medical College and Hospital, Nanded has visited with his team to explore the opportunities between two Institutions for exchanging ideas and possible collaborations at large. Besides, as per the discussion with Dr. Vijay Katkade (Assistant Commissioner) Department of District Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Nanded the analysis of milk and dairy products for the Proximate Analysis of Milk and Biomolecular Profiling of Milk using GC/LC-MS techniques has been proposed along with their other activities with campus schools.
For any further details and queries, one can directly visit CICMRI at SRTM University, Nanded.
