ZionSong was birthed out of the 1978 National Music Leadership Conference (later called the International Worship Symposium) held at Shiloh Christian Fellowship in Oakland, CA in 1978. Originally called ZionSong Clearing House, it described itself as “an association of Christian musicians interested in giving and receiving God-inspired music.” Barry Griffing, music minister at Shiloh, was the founder and director of ZionSong. Barry produced cassette tapes and lead sheets of new worship songs that were mailed to subscribers about 4 times a year from 1979 to 1985.
