Here is my first look at the SCHF9 from Schrade and I wanted to share it with all of you.
I am looking for a well priced knife that I can use for just about anything and also a knife that I can trust to do what needs to be done. If I have to fell a small tree, process firewood or cut my steak. I am looking for the do-it-all knife. A hard use knife. I think I found it with the Griffin Design Schf9 by Schrade.
It has a 6.4" blade and a 5.6" handle. The steel is the tried and true 1095 High Carbon Steel. The handle scales are Kraton and actually feel quite good with no slippage or vibration. This blade comes in at 15.9 ounces so it is not a lightweight backpacking blade. This is a serious hard use general purpose around the camp knife. It is housed in a nylon sheath with a molded plastic insert and a detachable pouch that fits a Leatherman Surge perfectly. When the knife is in the sheath it has virtually no rattle or blade noise when shaken.
I plan on using the SCHF9 extensively over the winter and coming back to you with a full review of it.
The Schrade SCHF9. A power house of a knife.
This knife is going to replace my trusty Schf37 for my general purpose hard use knife.
