Sony ICF-19 AM FM Portable Radio Review 2.0

The Sony ICF-19 AM FM portable radio may be one of the best values on the market today. It has amazing run times of four hundred plus hours. Expect to increase that time even further using headphones. A perfect off the grid radio.

During this revisit I come across a distant station I normally need a C.Crane Twin Coil antenna to get receive. An awesome radio for sure!

Features I like about this radio:
Good FM reception.
Excellent sensitivity on the AM dial.
Build quality is very good, comparable to the more expensive 506.
Speak Audio is nice and neutral for pleasant listening.
Runs on three D cell batteries.
Run times of four hundred plus hours.
Headphones sound good on both bands.
Battery level indicator LED.
Tuning indicator LED.
A strap that can be used to hang the radio in different locations.
Clear and easy to read dial.
Accurate dial.
Simple controls.
Low Cost.
Internals are of high quality.
The ferrite antenna is nicely wound and measures 4 3/4".

Features that could be added or improved on:
Improve selectivity on the AM band.
FM Stereo on Headphones.
DC input jack would be ideal.

Overall, an amazing value for someone looking for a radio that can run forever on D cells, and retains that Sony quality build and reception capabilities. I am very glad to have this in my collection, and it would be my main go to radio for an extended power outage or off the grid use.
