For the record, I'm a big fan of Dogen's course! You just have to make sure you use it alongside immersion and phonetic training, like I say in the video (and like Dogen himself would recommend).
HVPT (short for "high variability phonetic training") is a research-backed way to gain the ability to clearly hear the sounds of a foreign language. The basic format is that you listen to a target language sound, attempt to identify which sound you heard, and then receive immediate feedback. You can do HVPT for pitch accent here: https://kotu.io/
