We dove deep into a specific case of CFD modelling of a big system. We simulated water-link's raw water basin and tested different aerator configurations and airflow rates to remove dead zones, reduce short-circuiting, and ensure uniform residence times. This led to more efficient system design, requiring fewer aerators and lower airflows than originally anticipated, resulting in significant savings on both capital and operational costs. CFD also provided a clear visual understanding of flow dynamics, helping operators making informed decisions to prevent issues like blue algae blooms and maintain high water quality.
