These sounds and images were a part of a very special evening, and their beauty can be seen reflected in this work, forever.

In one breath, Goapele is urging social change and personal transformation. In another breath, she is penning sensual and introspective R&B tracks. In between, she’s as soulful as ever. This delicate sonic shapeshifting was introduced on her now classic 2001 debut album. “Even Closer”, yielded the iconic anthem “Closer”, which has quietly racked up tens of millions of plays, downloads, sales and impressions. The title track of her fourth album, Strong As Glass, endures as a women’s anthem. While hypnotic bass heavy songs like “Play”, from Break of Dawn display a more sensual side of Goapele, songs such as “Stand” continue in the tradition of movement music. Essence claimed, “her voice is the stuff of dreams” and Huffington Post called her “a driving motivational force for many women.” Goapele is an Indie Artist role model, who has always been able to stay true to her vision, with the support of her family run record label, Skyblaze Recordings.
