We got up high to see how the snowpack is evolving in the alpine around Girdwood. It is dynamic. The snowpack was still totally dry on due northerly slopes, but anything with an easterly tilt was starting to fall apart as it heated up by early afternoon. As we continue into the spring, we'll be concerned with some of the older stubborn weak layers waking up again when there is liquid water present in the snowpack.
