The Parable of the Lost Coin | NOW (Part 3)

In Luke 15, Jesus tells three stories to illustrate God’s heart to seek and to save the lost.

In the story of the lost sheep, our Shepherd Savior is the one seeking the lost.
In the story of the lost son, God the Father is the one seeking the lost.
In the story of the lost coin, the Church—the bride of Christ—is the one seeking the lost.

Like the woman in the parable of the lost coin, the Church is a betrothed bride of Christ. To find the lost coin, the woman lights an oil lamp to light up the darkness. Oil is a picture of God’s Spirit, and the lamp is a picture of God’s Son!

The lost will be attracted to the Light when the bride is filled with God’s Spirit and alive with God’s Son. As the church, we are to shine the light of the gospel into the darkness of our world!
