Congrats to docawesome22 on breaking my old 1551 PC Cave world record by getting a length of 1803 back in July! Here's the link to that 1803 run: • Snakeybus Cave 1803 (Former PC World Record)
I finally got around to getting the world record back for PC Cave and managed to break 2000 while doing so.
In order to get the record back, I did the following major changes:
-I no longer did a spiral in the corner of the starting area (the area I'm first seen driving through from 9:33 to 4:43). Instead I used this space to have more lanes leading into me jumping/boosting into the air.
-I had some laps going clockwise around the cave instead of counterclockwise to help with congestion.
ROUTE SUMMARY
My route was to go clockwise around the cave from the runway at 0:29, switch to counterclockwise from the runway at 6:59, and switch back to clockwise from the runway at 16:28. From there, I keep going clockwise from the runway at 18:02 (which is the same runway from 0:29) and then repeat the whole cycle again.
Starting from the runway at 0:29, the next couple sections of this video's description cover more planned specific elements for each direction of the route. Each planned elements I did in a specific order (like working my way from outside to inside or left to right) to keep things organized, which helped with knowing/finding which runway is available to use.
CLOCKWISE
-Area before blue ring: use the runways at 0:29, 1:54, 3:09, 5:42, and 6:59.
-Use the runway at 6:59 for transitioning to the counterclockwise direction.
-Make sure that during the lap before using the runways at 5:42 and 6:59 that you drop off the passengers at all the rings. If done right, the red or yellow ring should be the last ring before whatever runway you need to use. This is important because you want to guarantee that the runway is accessible and not covered by the water.
*The part from 3:31 to 3:53 wasn't planned and was something I ended up doing because I didn't get passengers for the blue ring from 2:39 to 3:19.
*The lap from 4:38 to 5:30 wasn't planned and was something I ended up doing because my bus had a bad landing from 4:27 to 4:34 I needed to recover from, which messed up the timing and allowed the runway at 5:42 to get covered by the water.
*I ended up not fully using the runway at 6:59 because a mess from the previous cycle was in the way. The following timestamped link is what happened in the previous cycle: • Snakeybus Cave 2068 (PC World Record; Full...
COUNTERCLOCKWISE
-Area before red ring: use the runways at 7:20 and 8:30; the open space at 10:11; and the runways at 11:36 and 12:57.
-Area before yellow ring: use the runways at 8:08 and 9:42; the open space at 12:24 and 13:49; and the runway at 16:28.
-Use the runway at 16:28 for transitioning to the clockwise direction.
*At 11:11, I flew straight to the yellow ring instead of landing in the ground area first like I normally would. I don't recall why I did this. I think I just felt like doing that in the moment due to the amount of space in the air that I flew through with how high the water was.
*At 15:16, I didn't use the runway like I normally would at this point because of the water covering it. Since I knew the runway was available, I did an extra clockwise direction lap from 15:16 to 16:28.
REASONS WHY IT'S EASIER TO GET A HIGHER SCORE ON PC COMPARED TO CONSOLE
-It's easier to make sharper turns on PC, which makes incorporating some of the runways and u-turns easier.
-The algorithm for how your bus grows on PC is (number of passengers dropped off)/3 whereas for console it's (number of passengers dropped off)/6. This means your bus grows faster on PC (for example, dropping off 180 passengers results in you growing 60 buses on PC and 30 buses on console). It's good to be able to progress faster because that means less chances to mess up when you fly and less waiting time for the runs to get more interesting.
-On PC, you can bind the controls so that jump and boost are different buttons while for console, they're the same button. So for console, if you want to boost/gradually fly up off the ground (which is often the case for Cave) but your jump is available, then you have to jump first instead of being able to use boost right away.
AMOUNT OF TIME SHOWN NEAR END NOT BEING ACCURATE
At 22:28, the game says this run took over 125 minutes. That is wrong because the video I uploaded of this run fully from start to finish is about 63 minutes long. This isn't the first time the game said the time a run took was longer than it actually was. For my 1551 run of Cave, the game said it took over 87 minutes when the full run video for that run is about 45 minutes long (here's the timestamped link to that part: • Snakeybus Cave 1551 (Former PC World Recor... . I don't know why it's like this on Cave for PC when it comes to the amount of time a run takes but that's just how it is.
