3RD BREAK - DECIDE FOR YOURSELF - EVIDENCE

Over the past 14 months, I have meticulously documented the evolving breaks at Golden Beach using my drone footage. In conjunction with sunshinecoastnews.com.au, I am bringing attention to Break #2 and the emerging Break #3.

There's a lot of speculation suggesting that Break #3 could spell further trouble for Golden Beach. However, I urge you to examine the frontline footage captured on 23/5/25 before jumping to conclusions. In my opinion, while there are concerns, there is no reason for alarm.

Key Observations from the Footage:

Coffee Rock Formation – Unlike previous breaches, this one features coffee rock on the beachside that contains live roots and vegetation. This natural barrier will require significant force to erode, making it more resilient than the narrow straight wall that defined Break #2.

Flow of Water – Opposite this breach lies an island and extremely shallow sandbanks. Given the absence of a natural flow in this area, the critical question is: where will the water move—left or right? Unlike Break #2, the direction of the flow remains uncertain.

Vegetation Stability – Small trees are actively growing and extending their roots into the breach, forming a connection between the island and the new sand wash-over. My footage spanning the past 12 months shows little change in this pattern. Based on my observations, Break #3 on Bribie Island is likely to result in either a simple wash-over that redistributes sand or a more significant merger of the shallow sandbanks, trees, and island.

This conclusion is drawn from my extensive experience—62 years as a surfer, 26 years living in the area, and over a year of continuous drone monitoring.
