For the Alaska cruise season, several lines have ships that make separate northbound and southbound savings -- usually from Vancouver, B.C. north to Seward, Alaska, and then in reverse from Seward, Alaska south to Vancouver.
One of the unique issues with these cruises is the distance from Anchorage and the Ted Stevens Airport to the port at Seward. The 130 mile trip can be made by rail or by bus, and is an additional cost to the passenger cruise fare.
This video shows my excursion after disembarking the Celebrity Summit, but this same excursion is offered nearly every day of the week and to all of the "one-way" ship passengers.
It was a beautiful day, and after taking the rail from Seward all of the way to Fairbanks, I have to say that this stretch was the most scenic train ride in Alaska -- for me.
Have you taken this train? What did you think?
Happy travels my friends!
