Are dead trees worth anything? In today’s video, I tackle a patch of dead and dying Sitka spruce on my property. The cause of their death? Could be heat, drought, climate change, logging damage… who knows? But one thing is for sure—I want to see if I can turn these trees into something valuable.
I start by felling, limbing, and bucking the trees into logs safely and efficiently. Then, using my John Deere skidder, I haul them to the landing, where I scale the logs to determine the board footage. Instead of sending them to the mill, I break down how I maximize profit by milling the logs myself, turning them into high-value wood products instead of selling them as raw logs.
If you're into forestry, logging, sawmilling, and making the most of your timber resources, this is the video for you! Let me know in the comments if you've salvaged dead trees and what you've done with them. Don’t forget to like, subscribe, and stay tuned for more forestry, logging, and sawmilling content!
