Driving lessons in Derby with MD Driving.
Clutch control while approaching junctions for the first time is one of the biggest challenges for new drivers. In today’s in-car lesson, my learner is using MSPSL (Mirror, Signal, Position, Speed, Look) for the very first time — all while trying to keep the clutch steady and avoid stalling. The moment we add real junctions and MSPSL, everything becomes harder:
finding the bite point consistently
slowing down without harsh braking
choosing the right gear at the right time
positioning for left and right turns
using mirrors and signalling with purpose
controlling speed with clutch + brake
looking early while still controlling the car
There are moments where the MSPSL overwhelms her — but you’ll also see the exact moment where it starts to CLICK. By the end of the lesson, she’s smoother, more controlled, and finally using MSPSL with confidence at real junctions. This is a real lesson with a real learner — no scripts, no staging, just genuine progression.
