تَضَعْ سمكة الفايتر من أربعين إلى خمسين بيضة في كل عملية تفريخ، وقد يصل عدد البيض إلى حوالي خمسمائة بيضة.

يجب اختيار سمكة أنثى بنفس حجم الذكر ويُفَضَلْ أن تكون الأسماك صغيرة في العمر حيث أنها تتكاثر بشكل أفضل عندما لايزيد عمرها عن أربعة عشرة شهرًا

تجهيز الحوض المائي بحيث يحتوي على ثمانية عشر لترًا إلى سبعة وثلاثين لترًا من الماء، وتركيب سخان لضبط درجة الحرارة إلى سبعة وعشرون درجة مئوية، وعدم إضافة الحصى حتى لا يضيع البيض في القاع.

الانتظار حتى تَفْقُسْ اليرقات وعند بدء اليرقات بالسباحة بعيدًا عن العُشْ يجب إخراج الذكر من حوض التكاثر.
