A short mobile documentary on the world's biggest tree canopy. The documentary was released by Jananpith award winner Dr. Chandrashekhara Kambara on Saturday March 8, 2014.
The documentary is shot completely using a cell phone. The discovery of a gigantic banyan tree in Ananthpur district of Andhra Pradesh is one among a few wonders of nature.
The tree is situated in Gutibayalu, a remote sleepy village of N P Kunta mandal in Ananthpur district, about 26 kms East of Kadiri town on Rayachoti Road. The tree is located at the foot-hills of Eshwaramala reserve forest of Kadiri range which covers an extent of 2, 869 ha.
The tree is known as Thimmamma Maarimanu and spreads about 8 acres of land with whopping 4, 358 supporting roots.
The tree is nearly 580 years-old and has entered the Guinness Book of World Records. The credit for earning entry into Guinness Book of World Records goes to veteran journalist Regret Iyer of Bangalore.
