Edit to mention that there are obviously a lot more issues around indigenous communities and the state taking children that I should have been more aware of when it came to Hawaii, I think I just really got caught up on Lilo staying in what was essentially 'family' but yeah, that was a bad choice by writers considering the wider historical landscape, especially considering at least one of them is Hawaiian. Dumb of me to not think deeper about the ideas expressed in movies like this and who may be encouraging various aspects (like I hadn't even considered what the lack of comments on tourism meant compared to the original and that's on me)

LIVE ACTION LILO AND STITCH IS HERE! And sadly not as good as I was hoping. While certainly a highlight in the slew of recent live action ventures, the movie just ultimately leaves you asking 'why' when you realize how many key elements have been removed. It's got heart, but lacks soul.
