Doctor Who Theme - Delia Derbyshire Stereo Remix 2023

The aim behind this was to create a nice, clean, modernized remix of the original theme without sacrificing any of the spirit of Delia Derbyshire's work, and to combine both the August 1963 "full" and November 1963 "televised" versions. In essence, to get at the intention behind the piece while also compensating for the technical limitations of technology in 1963.

The original recording is, on average, about 10-15 cents flat from concert pitch, and varies in tempo but comes out to more or less 139 BPM, give or take. This remix has had all elements subtly tweaked up to proper pitch and synced up to a steady tempo. This necessitated completely dismantling the recording to its component parts, note by note, in order to tighten up the tuning and speed and carefully give each elements its own balanced space in the stereo field. As a little finishing touch, the TARDIS sound effect has been overlaid, in reference to the first ever stereo mix of the theme, produced in 1972.
