On November 11-12, 2025, a strong CME from the Sun impacted Earth causing a beautiful display of northern lights across the United States. Although Michigan was mostly clouded over on the night of November 11, clouds would begin to clear up during the day on November 12.
By the time nightfall came, most areas in Lower Michigan were cloud free and experienced G2-G3 aurora conditions! We positioned up in Muskegon county, MI both in fields and along Lake Michigan where vibrant pillars and even overhead aurora was present briefly. These conditions lasted from 8PM EST to 2AM EST.
We even got to experience a rare "ORANGE" aurora glow with even some pillars over Lake Michigan. This is due to a mixture of both green and red aurora colors. Although it was very windy with wind gusts over 20mph and with blowing sand, we were able to document this beautiful display of God's Creation! We also got wet due to a large wave, but in the end, it was so worth it!
