Deep Castle (Remix) | Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story

This is a remix of “Deep Castle”, the final dungeon theme from Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story. There are two versions of this song, one for in Peach’s Castle Depths and one for inside Bowser. I have combined elements of both in a mix between orchestral with electronic elements.

Yes, I know the gameplay segments are in the wrong order! I feel that the more bombastic and intense sections of the track fit exploration with Bowser more than the Bros. exploring the Airway. So I’ve rearranged the visuals to help sell the mood better.

This track is great, I love the almost sombre and climactic feeling that it gives the depths of Peach’s Castle, really fits the story at this point. I had plenty of ideas for a remix of it so I couldn’t really help myself and just started working on it.

The original track had plenty of sitar and strings, but with a more expressive sound palette, it almost makes it sound Arabian. I tried to give the strings plenty of power and presence in the mix, especially during the climax to help sell the sombre and dire tone. The climax itself I felt was too short in the original, so I have extended it and done some rearranging to accomodate it. I gave the standard version of the song some spotlight in the middle and try to combine it with the Inside Bowser version.
