Although the Kyudokan school is considered a Kobayashi Ryu school due to its primary lineage tracing back to Chibana Choshin Sensei, it differs significantly from other Kobayashi schools. This distinction arises from specific principles such as marumi, muchimi and gamaku, as well as the inclusion of kata introduced by Yuchoku Higa Sensei, which he learned from masters of other lineages.
Chinti is a rare kata in Okinawa, which Yuchoku Higa Sensei learned from Jiro Gima, according to Ohtsuka Tadahiko Sensei’s research. The kata ends slightly ahead of its starting position, so practitioners take a long step back to complete it. However, Nakayama Sensei of Shotokan added three unusual backward hops to ensure the kata ended exactly where it began, a typical norm in his school.
