Ever After costume design surprised me, because this was my first time watching the film.
I didn’t go in expecting much.
And then the clothes kept pulling my attention.
They’re simple. Worn. Thoughtful.
They feel like real garments being lived in, not costumes trying to impress.
In this video, I talk through what stood out to me on a first watch.
How Jenny Beavan uses Renaissance references, fabric choices, and restraint to do the storytelling quietly.
How class, labour, and character show up without being explained.
It’s not about historical accuracy points.
It’s about why it feels believable.
If you like thinking about clothes as communication, you’ll probably enjoy this one.
Thanks for watching.
