RAS TEO meets LONE ARK - SOUL REBEL (A-Lone Productions 2025)

A-Lone Productions presents Soul Rebel , the new Ras Teo and Lone Ark album. This special set is the second Lp by the duo after releasing their first Lp, Ten Thousand Lions, back in 2019. Since then they have been collaborating together with different labels, releasing a string of roots reggae records which had a great impact on the worldwide sound system scene. Tunes such as: Shaka Warrior, Behold, Come Back Ya So, Arba Lijoch, All Hail and many more.


Now, this new album is a different thing, it represents a new stage for the duo; this time the ten riddims sang by Teo consists of the most rootikal and minor-key roots-rocksteady tracks produced by Roberto Sánchez for his albums with Alpheus, Keith and Tex or Glen Ricks in the past. Most of the riddims were composed by Roberto, although there are four Phil Pratt riddims covered by Lone Ark Riddim Force. The magic came when Ras Teo started singing at the A-Lone Ark Muzik Studio over them with his unique, smooth and deep style giving those riddims a new depth and perspective. His conscious and spiritual lyrics fit the riddims amazingly well and provide the album with an authentic rootikal energy. The work of Lone Ark Riddim Force and Roberto himself on the backing vocals take the album to a next level, creating a new concept for the duo with this stunning Roots-Rocksteady set. It’s like listening to the old time groups like African Brothers or Abyssinians over Treasure Isle riddims, a musical gem combining sweet and raw riddims with the deepest message. The album has its dub-versions counterpart Lp called Soul Rebel in Dub, signed by Lone Ark Riddim Force. Soul Rebel could be the first roots-reggae-rock-steady album ever released. In November 2018 Ras Teo came to Spain to visit me and to work at the Ark. By then we had already finished our first album together, the vocal and dub set called “Ten Thousand Lions” and we were preparing a second album called “Moses and Aaron” that will be soon released. The meeting at the studio was magical, full of vibes, and the sessions were pure fire. Teo voiced more than 72 tracks in less than two weeks. We worked on many of my old riddims and as a result he sang an amazing number of crucial tunes. Some of them have been released on different labels already; tunes such as: Shaka Warrior, Behold, Down in The Middle East, Come Back Yah So, Daniel, Lumumba, Back A Bush, Mother, Arba Lijoch, Enoch and many more… He brought a notebook full of lyrics, it was impressive to see him working, voicing and voicing at that level. We even voiced an album for Linval Thompson on his classic Channel One riddims that has not been released yet. After visiting most of the roots reggae riddims at the Ark, I started playing him some of the minor key rocksteady riddims, those I built for Alpheus and Keith and Tex in the past. There is something spiritual in those riddims and he captured the essence from the very first moment. The two first songs he sang were Soul Rebel and Farmer Dem and from that same moment I knew we had found something special. Soul Rebel and Soul Rebel In Dub albums are the result of that meeting.
