Butter Knife
Plate or pan to use under it while sculpting

Pencil
Steps
1. Trace the soap onto you paper
2. Draw design on the shape of the soap
3. Cut out the shape and trace it on your soap or just look at it and draw it onto your soap
4. Place soap on a plate and start to carve out the largest areas with you butter or kid knife
5. Use paper clip to smooth and pencil for detail
6. Look at your sculpture from all sides
Adaptions
Students could make the soap into a different shape with their tools, it could be abstract and
not represent anything. They could make it into a letter.

Tips
The design shouldn't have too many pieces sticking off of it, the more together it is, the more
likely it will stay together. (a figure standing with arms raised would be difficult, someone or an
animal curled into a ball would be easier)
