Whether you’re vegan or you’re thinking of adopting a more plant based lifestyle, hitting protein targets can be a challenge.
This is why.
Because we’re eating the wrong foods!
Lentils, chickpeas, black beans, quinoa are not good sources of protein - they are a carb source with a bit of protein.
Think of it as a pyramid
top tier - protein rich =
Tofu, tempeh, seitan, TVP
even vegan “meat” or protein powder
second tier - protein additions
Soya yogurt, edemame
bottom tier- accompaniments =
Lentils, chickpeas, quinoa, black beans
We want to start every meal with tier 1.
If you do that, you’ll hit your protein goals.
