Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit India on December 4–5 for a state visit that New Delhi describes as a chance to review bilateral progress and chart the future of the India-Russia partnership. This will be Putin's first trip to India since 2021 and comes against the backdrop of the nearly four-year-long Russia–Ukraine war and fresh US tariffs imposed on India for buying discounted Russian oil.
