How to convert a Nikkor 5.8cm lens so that it can be used on digital cameras. I cover how to remove the aperture ring, where to make the notch, and putting the aperture ring back into place. By correctly notching the ring, exif aperture data can be stored in the files.
Never force a non-Ai lens onto the mount as it will cause damage. An incorrectly modified aperture ring can also cause damage. Be careful and go slowly when mounting a newly converted lens for the first time. I recommend using an old film camera body to test with. That way any problems can be corrected before mounting the lens to a DSLR.
