Well.... here she is... The stunning (and very iconic) Piano Black Yamaha Recording Custom! 😮💨
What can I say? Well Gadd spent 3years working with Yamaha, bringing this classic up to modern speck.
What they decided on was -
•6ply Birch (instead of 8ply).
•heavier lugs for more resonance control.
•30degree bearing edges (instead of 45) for an even warmer sound.
•Updated YESS Mount.
•and includes the classic (and very functional) bass drum T-rods.
I reskinned with my go-to Black Suede Emperors, Clear Ambassadors, Clear P3, and P3 Ebony, and with minimal intervention she was instantly singing!
Heres my first play under mics, and its fair to say I am floored. This kit sounds unreal and really lives up to the history it has garnered.
The snare I am using here is the recently acquired my 89' Brass 14x3.5 SD493. This whole setup is insane.
Cymbals - Agop
Heads - Remo
Sticks - Wincent
Pedal - Altune
Mics - sE
Hardware - Apogee
