On December 17th, the Department of Bahia hosted American percussionist Frank Colón and his wife, Margarida, for an evening of jazz with their congas, shekere, and the samba reggae of the Yayá Muxima women's collective, featuring Víviam Caroline and Jeison Wilde of the Afro-Symphonic Orchestra. The Colón couple received the Gohonzon in 1985, presented by Wayne Shorter. The two gatherings brought together more than two hundred people, both in person and virtually.
The anniversary event took place on November 30th at the future Salvador Cultural Center, with a program including a book exchange upon arrival, interaction, the granting of Gohonzon medals celebrating the eternal movement for shakubuku, studies, and encouragement. Performances highlighted Buddhist parables, such as "the poor woman and the lamp" and "the offering of the mud cake," conveying the sincerity of various types of offerings and ways to contribute to peace.
There were also discussions on diverse themes, including ancestry, Afro-descendence, and cultural rhythms, which captured the attention of engaged specialists and professionals. An exhibition of visual artists was also featured.
