On the occasion of Maharaja Swathi Thirunal's 208th Birth anniversary, I decided to record this Thillana that I learnt much earlier in my musical journey.
Maharaja Swathi Thirunal was a brilliant music composer and is credited with over 400 classical compositions in both Carnatic and Hindustani style. He was one of the finest kings to rule colonised India and was credited with transforming the state of Travencore. He was also a vivid astronomy enthusiast and is said to have set up the Travencore observatory!
