Vishnu Govind Jog, also known as V. G. Jog was born on 22nd February 1922. Born in Mumbai in 1922, he started his early training with S. C. Athavale and the late Ganpat Rao Purohit. He was an Indian violinist who was the foremost person to expose violin in the Hindustani music tradition in the 20th century. V. G. Jog performed and recorded with many of the greatest Hindustani musicians of the 20th century. He secured a master's degree in music from Bhatkhande Music Institute in Lucknow in 1944 and began to teach there. The name Pandit Vishnu Govind Jog became almost synonymous with the violin in Hindustani classical music.

Raag - Brindabani Sarang is a Kafi thaat raga. The notes Ga and dha are not used in this raga. Its origin from thaat Kaafi is peculiar as it uses the shuddha form of "ni" in its Aaroha, whereas the komala form of "ni" and "ga" is the main characteristic of the Kaafi thaat.
Raag - Gour Sarang though a day time melody produces effect like the night melodies. The overall impact of the Raag is identical to that in Raag Kedar or Raag Bihag.
In Raag – Mishra Pilu, nyas on Komal Gandhar and Shuddha Nishad of Mandra Saptak, at once creates the Raag mood.
